backcountry skis and boots for the trails in the Whites

I find that for light touring equipment it's best to keep your eye out on trash day or yard sales. It is absolutely amazing how many perfectly usable cross-country skis end up in the trash. So for the kick and glide into Zealand, by 75 mm lightweight boots and watch the trash for free skis...

Down Hill Biking on Mt. Moosilauke

I saw what looked like fat bike ( fat tire mountain bike) tracks on the Summit Ridge yesterday. The tracks were not recent they were in the old frozen crusty layer. So it appears somebody may have given it a go.

Irene -- Please use this thread for NH/VT/ME road closures

Thanks, your friend's description makes me think it's doable. I've taken a road bike over Jefferson Notch before, so if it's the usual fall conditions, it's no problem for this group. I'm a bit concerned that the repair work may have started, making the road un- rideable.

    Jefferson Notch Road conditions

    WMNF Forest Road Status

Long Pond and Bear Notch Does anyone have an update on either Long Pond and Bear Notch? Planning a bike ride this weekend and would like to include both. I see from the state website that they're listed as closed. Just wondering if maybe they could be passable by bicycle. Thanks in advance...
