I took a quick trip to trailsnh.com . No sign of a link to road conditions page. It is probably there since it has "forest road closing in the banner" if its there, its not obvious.
Zealand road generally has to be open earlier as AMC wants access to the helicopter landing zone off of FR 155 that starts on Zealand Road, that they use to supply Zealand Hut and Galehead as well as general hiking access to the Sugarloaf campgrounds and Zealand Hut. I find the roads tend to be...
The good old days when VFTT crowd sourced actual road openings because no one else was doing it.
Of course, the WMNF at some point became the supplier of up to date road info and made it publicly available.

My frequent shortcut between RT 16 and RT 2 in the Gorham/ Randolph area is still officially closed and was blocked off with orange cones as of yesterday. It is usually still signed closed but passable this time of year but I expect the heavy rains events in the last 6 months did heavy damage...
Thanks, Not the first time the road has been trashed by the winter. The State of Maine seems to prioritize getting it open by Memorial day weekend bt not much earlier.
I hope your recent eclipse viewing worked out well.
Interesting meeting, not much new except that some folks from Jackson area were there and they are contemplating a similar arrangement with GBA and expect their eyes were opened. Despite the intent of keeping things positive for how a new group might manage the area, there is not a lot of love...

Large undeveloped coastal islands in Maine with walk in access are pretty rare in Maine. Sears Island in Penobscot Bay was bought by the state of Maine in the past when the land rush for coastal maine real...
Bringing back an old thread.
Looks like the law of unintended consequences for the donation of the monument still applies.

I wonder if the new access...
Looking like I may be over that way for few days. I have visited Acadia back in college but never hiked there. So what are the best or must do hikes? It will be soon to avoid the crowds.
