Has anyone hiked up Mount Major this week? If so, what are the conditions. Are snowshoes or crampons needed. Will it be hard for 5 and 7 year old to do ;this time of year? Thanks

Has anyone XC skied the Kanc Brook Trail recently from Waterville Valley? In the past, it was off the Greeley Ponds Trail. Not sure with that trail reconfigured, if it would be skiable from Waterville Valley.

The group that did go up Mount Washington yesterday had a good, safe trip. They reported that they passed a lot of other hikers-they weren't the only ones out on the trail. Glad everyone made it back safely and it does pay to be prepared, which I guess they were. Thanks again for everyone's replies.

This weekend is going to be minus 21 with high winds on Mt. Washington. With proper equipment would it be safe to hike to the top?

I just found out that there is a $5,000 fine for going past Knight's bridge. I guess i may try the route in reverse. I'm a little concerned about going down the part that I skin up! It is narrow and it might be fast with no bail outs.

Is the greeley Ponds Trail open all the way to the ponds from Livermore road? If not, are the river crossings passable? If the bridges are out, are there fines for crossing the river? Just trying to get to the Kanc brook XC trail. thanks.

I thought the ski areas frowned on this. What exactly is the ski areas' (not just Wild Cat) position on skinning up if you do have a pass.

I also had red squirrels chew into my house. they chewed through the roof-we have a wooden roof. I duck tapped a rat trap on the roof, near where they got in and caught four. that was a few years ago, But I am still worried about them since they run on the deck along the house. I put a rat trap...

Andy, I had this happened to me years ago: gate open on the Woodstock side, closed on the Waterville side. It was a difficult trip back since it started to snow and was slippery turning around and going up in elevation that way. Also happened, I think two years ago, when they were doing road...
