To Whom Do You Recommend Trail Safety Improvements?

I know the spot you're talking about, I was there a few weeks ago. It seems to be slowly getting worse over the years. Personally I wouldn't have had a issue with it except that I was carrying a passenger and that severely restricts my mobility at times.

    Bridge Status In Pemi Wilderness

Use Classic Mode. If you don't know how to, well, you can Google for it.

    Guns on the trail

I'm curious as to your reasoning. In VT concealed carry does not require a permit so it could be that everybody is packing and you wouldn't know.

NH Hikesafe Card in NH House study committee

I think using BSP is a poor choice of example. As an out of stater you pay more to get in there already.

    Mount Ascutney

Sue, do you know much about the Weathersfield Trail? I used to hike Ascutney several times a year by the various trails before I moved away in 2001. Then there was a 5 or 6 year gap and the next time I went up that trail is had changed quite a bit.

    Mount Ascutney

Well I haven't hiked the Windsor Trail in quite some time. I generally take the Brownsville or Weathersfield Trails as they're much more interesting. The last time I went to Blood Rock the trail continued on and rejoined the Windsor Trail, this was in the mid-to-late 90s most likely, perhaps...

FYI: Northern Pass High Voltage Transmission Project

My main complaint was with the statement "a majority of Vermonters". I seriously doubt it. More likely it's a vocal minority that opposes nuclear power. The vast majority have no opinion one way or the other. No different than any other issue. Of course nuclear power comes with risks, some...

FYI: Northern Pass High Voltage Transmission Project

Seems a little early for the name calling. Whatever. Enjoy your expensive, dirty power.

FYI: Northern Pass High Voltage Transmission Project

Really? Not with the majority that I know. Nor the 600+ that are going to be out of work. Nor will hardly anybody once they see the alternatives. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2013/09/01/who-told-vermont-to-be-stupid/ Oh frack!

    Baxter State Park Questions

Just don't try using your cell phone from the top of Peak of the Ridges. Unless you're from New Brunswick.

    Okemo area activities

If you're already in Ludlow and want to hike why drive somewhere else? Keep in mind that nothing in that area is as close as it looks on a map. None of the routes are direct and all the roads are slow. Trust me I grew up there. The Healdville Trail is a great little trail that nobody knows...

    Maple syrup

Nope. I wouldn't eat there even if you were buying and the health inspector was with us.

    Your favorite photo of 2011

Pats Peak Trailhead (10/8/2011) I did a lot of hiking over the summer. But in the fall, Christa and I began the biggest hike of all.....

    Ravine Lodge Road

I found out the hard way. It was closed two weeks ago Saturday when I went there. The FS site said it was open, but since the DOC controls the gate it's better to check their site. http://www.dartmouth.edu/~doc/moosilauke/ravinelodge/ I just walked the road since I was already there. It was...

That's NOT how you say it !!!

If you look closely at the county line sign as you come into Twin Mountain on Route 3 from the south, you can see the name is spelled "Coös". This would indicate that both vowels are to be pronounced. I'm not sure if this is officially part of the sign or graffiti, I suspect the later...

    Irene's gift to the waters

The town of Cavendish, VT (where I grew up) had both the town water and sewer cut off when this happened .... The pipe you can see with liquid still coming out is the sewer pipe.

    GMNF Closed

I'm wondering what took them so long. Of course, most of it is effectively closed anyway since you can't get to it.

    peakbaggers: please don't flag...it's trash

No, you didn't. You choose to. You should have reported it to the rangers and made them do it. Then when they were done, they'd hang up "No Flagging" signs all along the route.
