    RIP Paradox :(

I missed the date of John's passing by a few weeks. This past month, Laurie and I had a shot of Lagavulin Single Malt, one of John's favorites, at the summit of South Kinsman. It was 'Flags on the 48' day. And while the occasion was not to celebrate John, (or anyone else for that matter), we did...

Would it happen in NH? S&R tells someone to hunker down for the night

Listen! I can hear it! It's getting louder! It's the death knell of VFTT. :(

Would it happen in NH? S&R tells someone to hunker down for the night

Maybe if this happened more often and was publicized, at least a few people would take note and be more prepared, or at least realize that help may not come instantly. Somewhat related, during hurricane Ian, 911 stopped responding to calls, because it was just not safe for the rescuers. There...

Flags on the 48 is 9/11 this year

Great! We met lots of friendly folks on the trails and at the summit. A little hazy for views but all 48 peaks were covered. Tons of pics on their facebook page.

    Mt Cabot Fatal

FWIW, she was a fairly recent 46R. And FWIW again, I was not calling anyone out. I was just stating 1 fact that I thought was relevant to the discussion.

Flags on the 48 is 9/11 this year

It's been a while since I've been on S Kinsman. Is it worth bringing binoculars to try to see other flags?

Also, if you don't have it out and ready at all times, you might as well not bring it. Like Sierra, we've spent many years hiking all over the NE. We've never had a negative encounter with bears, and never brought bear spray.

Just a reminder that Flags is coming up soon. Last I looked, they still had plenty of room to sign up, especially the Tripyramids. If anyone is going to be on the Kinsmans, we might see you there. Never forget!
