    This time of year I usually hike in mid-weight capilene long Jon bottoms and camp or water-proof breathable pants, modified with suspenders. Lounging about heavy weight capilene bottoms with fleece pants.. Works for me Jerry

    Stash, Yes PVC gets brittle, but I have never had a problem with my poles. I think I put mine together about ten years ago. While I have replaced several sleds, but still have the same poles. Good luck Jerry

    At the risk of sounding like an internet tough guy, I find it hard to believe that anyone on the mountain is going to "force" me down on a snow-cat or snowmobile. Nor do I believe I would allow anyone to force me down the mountain in any fashion. Until there is further clarification from USFS...
