    Android Hiking App

Thanks for the input. I downloaded the Locus Maps for $8 and have been playing with it. I got the 3 free maps and like everything so far. I'll put it to the test in a few weeks. Thanks!!

    Android Hiking App

Can anyone recommend a good Hiking App for an Android phone? Something that allows me to layout a route and then follow it not requiring cell service. I ran into someone last hike that had an app like I'm talking about. I thought they said it was AnyHiker, but I can't find that anywhere. Any...

Saddleback Mtn to Rt27 via AT hitting all 8 4000 Footers 6/29-6/30

OK, good to know. Thanks for the all info. I'm definitely not planning on coverage, but having never been to the area I'm trying to gain as much information at possible. Thanks.

Saddleback Mtn to Rt27 via AT hitting all 8 4000 Footers 6/29-6/30

Indeed, that hike down to Orbeton Stream then back up looks tough with full packs. Hopefully the weather cooperates. Good weather is always helpful. Hopefully the trails dry up some before then too. Any idea if there is any cell service on any sections out there? I never rely on it, but just...

Saddleback Mtn to Rt27 via AT hitting all 8 4000 Footers 6/29-6/30

OK, thanks for the info. I was thinking mid-week the lean-to would not be very busy, but based on your comments it seems this may not be the case. I guess it's hard to predict, but glad there is a tenting area and water nearby. I'm glad to hear the stream crossing are nothing crazy. Thanks again.

Saddleback Mtn to Rt27 via AT hitting all 8 4000 Footers 6/29-6/30

We're planning a thru-hike starting at the Saddleback Ski Resort hiking up the slope then hitting the AT and hitting all 4000 Footer along the way to the RT27 parking area. We're planning on staying at the Spaulding Mtn Lean-to. Does anyone know if the lean-to is in good shape and if there is...

    Owl's Head 5/20

We started at Lincoln Woods parking area and hiked Lincoln Woods Trail then up Black Pond Trail. Both Trails were flat and easy going. The Black Pond Bushwhack was fairly easy and we ended up exactly where Lincoln Brook Trail crosses Lincoln Brook. At times there was evidence of a herd path, but...

    Owl's Head 5/20

I'm not working on my 12x48 at this point, but am working on the NE115. Owl's Head is my final peak in N.H. then I will have completed everything except Maine. I'm driving 4.5 hours from upstate N.Y. and don't want to cancel and try to reschedule my trip. I'm just trying to get as much...

    Owl's Head 5/20

Yes, I see it is dropping quickly and with little rain in the forecast between now and then it should be more reasonable. The bushwhack sounds pretty open and looks like it cuts a mile off the trip, so might be worth doing it anyway? Does anyone have an idea of snow depth at 4000 feet? I was...

    Owl's Head 5/20

Thanks for the info and advice. Yes, it is for a list. Hopefully it's not a bad as you suggest it could be. Sounds like we'll be doing the Black Pond Bushwhack.

Hi everyone, I'm planning to hike Owl's Head this Saturday and was curious if anyone knows what the water crossings are like currently? Also, is all the snow gone by now? Any information is appreciated. Thanks

    Maine 4000 Footers

Also, as far as maps. What have you used? I have the Maine Amc guide, but the map doesn't cover all of that area.

    Maine 4000 Footers

Oh cool, that might be a good idea. Kids are 2 and 4, so trying to put together a plan. I'll look into the AT, thanks!

    Maine 4000 Footers

Hi everyone. I am working on my NE115 and only have the peaks of Maine left. I've started to plan for next year's hikes and am looking for suggestions. I live in upstate N.Y. so I was thinking of taking a week and trying to do the 10 peaks in the Carrabassett Valley area. Does anyone have...
