I have the same pack as you. Excepting for changes in clothing due to Seasonal weather variation, I carry the same stuff for three season use. There is always enough room and I think I could do a one or two summer overnight using it. I operate with the belief that it takes one unscheduled night...

    Kettle vs. pot...

I have a teapot I bought from REI mail order years ago. I would bring my self-designed meals that required boiling water, a sierra cup, a heat resistant medium seized bowl, and an old metal tablespoon. It all worked very well for me for several day trips from early spring through late fall.

    Backpacking/Climbing Knives of the 1960s, 70s and 80s?

In the late 1950's , I had a multi tool knife I bought at an Army/Navy store. It had the basic blades plus a folding out knife and spoon. I used that on my adventures cooking out in the woods, as they were, in Boston. In the Boy Scouts, I had an official BSA folding knife that served me well on...

I am on my feet all day. After much experimentation, I have settled on Dansko's for most work days , or Green Superfeet inside other enclosed footwear I use - boat shoes to my Limmer Standards.
