    Mt. Cabot 7/10/15

Yep, my wife did the Bunnell Notch Trail. It was in better shape, but I wanted the extra miles. I feel lazy if I don't get at least a half marathon in :-)

    Mt. Cabot 7/10/15

I should get some kind of credit for making these 2-3 hour one way drives every weekend! I vow to take a break next weekend! For now, here is my trip report for Mt. Cabot. http://www.backpackingengineer.com/running-the-nh-4ks-mt-cabot/ 2 words: overgrown, blowdowns

    Presidential Traverse - 7/3/15

Did a traverse and included Mt. Jackson this past Friday. Great day to be out with perfectly sunny skies. And no I did not see Scott Jurek :) As usual a detailed report is on my blog: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/running-the-nh-4ks-presidential-traverse/

    Willey Range Traverse

HA! I'm currently in rest mode. I wanted to give my body some time off after the 100 miler a few weeks ago. Although I might do a Presi Traverse soon if the timing is right. That will get me Jackson. I've been on the Webster Cliff Trail before when I section hiked the AT through there. But I...

    Willey Range Traverse

Second weekend in a row getting out to the Whites. Decided to make up a Willey Range Traverse. Had a blast with the ladders on the south side of Mt. Willey. Detailed trip report is here: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/running-the-nh-4ks-willey-range-traverse/. Happy Trails!

    Metacomet Trail

A little late for current trail conditions, but I figured I would share my experience since I thought this trail was fantastic. http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/105

MA MidState Trail: Stone Hill Rd. to Barre Falls Dam

The snow is still sticking around in Central MA. What an awesome section to complete to the MidState on! Here is my detailed trip report. http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/89

Mt. Watatic via the Wapack Trail

This was a great trail when the snow was kicking around. The snowmobiles had everything packed down nicely. Microspikes were required in some places, but many other places required nothing at all. Check out the link for a detailed trip report. http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/84

    which Spikes?

I vote Kahtoolas as well. I use them for backpacking and trail running.

    Thermarest Neoair

I have an all-season for below 30 deg. F weather. Otherwise I use a Big Agnes QSL. For me, the Neoair is a little less comfortable, but what I really dislike is the noise. The all-season is less noisy than other Neoair's but is still noisy. I personally am not bothered by the noise my pad makes...

MA MidState Trail - McCormick Rd to Barre Falls Dam

Sunday was an awesome day to be out on the trails in MA. Very little snow and temps in the 50's! My favorite section of the trail so far. A detailed trip report can be found here: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/74

2/5 (wednesday) mini beer gathering in North Reading, MA

I was thinking of going, but looks like the snow spoiled those plans!

MA MidState Trail - Rocky Hill Rd. to Marble Rd.

I got out for a quick trip on New Year's Day. The trail was in pretty good shape, but the recent snow certainly has changed things now! Here is the detailed report: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/65

MA MidState Trail - MA 16 to Rocky Hill Rd.

This is an 11.7 mile section. Note that there is about 7 miles of road walks here. As such, you may want to avoid this section if you are looking for more of a wilderness experience. A detailed trip report can be found here: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/63

MA MidState Trail - MA 16 to Southern Terminus

Went to the southern section this week since the northern section still has some snow which makes it difficult to run on. 50 degree F weather in December! Despite the messy trails it was a great day to run. Here is the trip report: http://www.backpackingengineer.com/blog.php/62

MA MidState Trail - MA 119 to MA 12

Amicus, you bring up a good point. I guess the amount of road walks question is a perception thing. For me, I consider a road walk of more than half a mile excessive. Sure, a few walks greater than this length are OK, but beyond that I sort of lose interest.

MA MidState Trail - MA 12 to Stone Hill Rd.

Glad to help. I'm hoping that I can compile a more extensive list of details after I finish the trail. Maybe it will be ready for spring!
