Pilot pliny range info (ISO )

Thanks guys, I've run from the fishery around the loop a couple times a few years ago (bulge, horn, cabot). Only 1 spot I recall that gets a bit funky that follows the stream bed up or I think there was an older trail also... Anyway, Ive never been across KKR and the Weeks trio. Are the summits...

Pilot pliny range info (ISO )

Hey Dingo, I looked under NH on this site but didn't know about the site above. I even saw one titled for Waumbek and Cabot but it was from well before the winter months. If you look at my question, Im actually not requesting recent trail conditions as much as general question about if the trail...

Pilot pliny range info (ISO )

Anyone familiar with winter crossing of Kilkenny Ridge across the Weeks? Curious also about continuing on north of the horn and Bulge towards Stark in winter. Are these lesser traveled connections overgrown or rarely cared for? Coverage has to be thin after the huge rain. I'm thinking it might...

Winter Katahdin via Abol Trail Questions

Brambor, Im not really sure what youre looking for in terms of beta. You've hiked Abol before and are comfortable with its steepness, have climbed Katahdin in winter via other routes including the Saddle descent. Sounds to me like you know what the mountain is like in winter. What else can we...

    Butt sledding haters?

Everyone uses the outdoors for different things. The take away is, whatever you choose to do, just remember youre not the only person out there using those outdoors. Etiquette is understanding that fact and considering it before you do whatever it is to choose to do. If the attitude is "F* it, I...

    Your NE67 Finish

I finished my 67 on North Brother in winter with only 1 friend. It was a clear day but windy and very cold. For me, this was a great way to end it, gazing upon my favorite and what I feel is the most majestic and unrivaled mountain east of the Rockies (Katahdin). I would say you cant go wrong...

New England 67 in 1 winter season

Thanks everyone, it was a fun journey. Finishing the ssw67 was just a by product of all the fun! Rich's 116 is truly outstanding. I know he also added a few of the NEHH while out doing the 116. Talk about a guy who was having fun! For those interested in the ssw67 list it now stands at 10, we...

New England 67 in 1 winter season

Happy to say I made it! Finished North Brother yesterday afternoon for the SSW67. Incredible day to wrap it all up as they had fresh snow covering everything. Happy to say I spoke with Rich also and he finished the first SSW115! Pretty awesome! So by what Ive researched the list is now at 10...

New England 67 in 1 winter season

Teo, I have visited the park many times. I have always followed every rule they put forward. Im a firm believer in respecting the mountains and those who help to maintain them for us to enjoy. With that being said, sometimes in the interest of safety plans change and rules need to be bent if...

Awesome Rich! Glad you didnt get hung up but with the tent reservation they wouldnt come looking since they expected you to be in the park. Let me know when you finish up NH!

New England 67 in 1 winter season

Congratulations to Jason! If that was this past Tues he now also holds the FKT for SSW67 and is only the 7th known person to do it. Rich should finish the NH peaks this week I believe and be number 8 and if I can manage to squeeze on to NB before Sunday at 1230am I'd make 9.

New England 67 in 1 winter season

It was great to see you out there Rich! Hopefully you managed to get on top of all of them as planned. I however am sadly still 1 peak away from SSW67...North Brother remains untagged as we were evicted from the park for illegal camping inside the boundary. Long story, many moving parts, we had...

    Williams Pond Road

Has anyone accessed BSP via the Williams Pond Road and have an idea on what the road conditions might be like? Anyone up to BSP recently at all and can comment on the roads OUTSIDE the park, AND TOTE road conditions inside?

You are going this weekend?! I will be on my way up tomorrow night. I think we are alseeping in the car and then heading to ABol first thing in the morning.Whats your plan? *Agreed, this year's CV6 provided a MASSIVE challenge for me this winter. Honestly, Ive never climbed them in winter when...

Winter access to Bigelows, Safford Brook

Has anyone ever used the Safford Brook trail to climb the Bigs in winter? Or does everyone prefer the FW's trail? I like the Fire Wardens route but it means extra skiing on the road.

Short notice Baxter approval. Any luck?

I know BSP's policy is to receive winter reservation requests 7 business days in advance. Does anyone know if its possible to get a short notice rez? I was thinking about Abol O&B in a day next weekend and/or N.Brother the same. Do day trips require any prior approval to walk in?
