I'll be spending the last week of August in Sequoia and Kings Canyon, then the first week of September with 3 days at Tioga Pass Resort at the eastern entrance of Yosemite and 4 days in southern Yosemite at a house in the Redwoods at Yosemite . I'll let you know how it turns out. My buddy...

    Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks

Thanks Thanks for your replies, one other question: Is anyone familiar with Mitchell Peak? We're thinking of spending one night of decadence at the Sequoia High Sierra Camp. One of the hikes is Mitchell Peak and I can't seem to find much info on it. My buddies 2 hiking books make no mention...

    Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks

I have a chance to visit this area for a few days from the west side. I will probably be doing day hikes, no overnights. I was wondering if anyone has some good beta on hikes or any good trail guides/maps. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks, Glenn

    Which Lens?

Thanks... Thanks Doug and Darren, I've been leaning towards the 10 - 22mm and the 24 - 105. I have also seen some good reviews of the new Tamron 18 - 250mm. But, most likely I will take the other two. Again, Thanks, Glenn

    Which Lens?

I will be going to both Yosemite and Lake Tahoe for the last week of August and first week of September. My question is: If you could only take 1 or maybe 2 lenses, what would you bring. My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel xt. I don't want to bring too much, both because of flying with them and...

    Favorite Mt. Washington loop hikes

How Soon? I stayed at Hermit Lake Shelters for a couple days last week and the Tuckerman Ravine trail was closed above the Lunch Rocks. Luckily for us they had just opened the Lion's Head summer route. There was still a lot of snow and ice in the ravine.

    Round-lobed Hepatica

Diffuser Jim, Great shot. I noticed that you used a diffuser, I've been doing some research lately on photographing flowers and it seems that a diffuser is a must have item. I must admit that I had never heard of one.. So, I went to B&H and did a search on diffuser and got a return of 24...

I need a new tent tomorrow for under $200

Big Agnes I second the Big Agnes. I have the Seedhouse 1 and I love it. It is not the SL version though. The SL version is a little shorter I believe. But setup is very quick and easy.

    Online Photo Equipment Seller Ratings

I also buy almost all my equipment from B&H, the best part is living in NJ. If I order it early in the day and use regular delivery it usually arrives the next day via UPS. I just wanted to point out the reseller ratings site for anyone who may be new to ordering camera equipment online. As has...

    Online Photo Equipment Seller Ratings

I'm not sure if this belongs here, if not, mods, please delete. I've seen a lot of questions about photo equipment and I've also seen some questions about what dealers we may use. I was thinking of buying another Canon Digital Rebel XT body, since the xti came out I thought I could get a good...

    Clear Sky Clock

I was searching for some info on the Great Basin National Park and came across this Clear Sky Clock Web page . Looks pretty cool, you can choose a state and then the region in the state. Once the "clock" comes up, you can click on any of the blocks in the time periods and see a meteorological...
