The timed entry system is still in effect in RMNP (until Oct 22) and I wanted to make a trip before the snows arrive. I selected the Twin Sisters ( elev approx 11.4K with the TH approx 9K) because it is in a section of the park where timed access is only in effect from 9AM to 2PM and I would arrive at the trailhead before that. In the crowded sections of the park (the Bear Lake corridor) the timed access is in effect from 5AM to 6PM. This peak is right across the street from Long's Peak and provides magnificent views of that peak. The weather was perfect all day, high 30s in the morning to low 60s at the end of the hike. Light winds. The trail ends at a saddle between the two "sisters" and you have to pick your way up a rocky scramble to reach the top of either of them. Kind of like climbing the last couple hundred feet of a Northern Presidential without any cairns or yellow paint. The rocks were almost the same as those encountered in the Northerns. The huge landslide visible in the pics was created in Sep 2013 following heavy rains.

Nice trip report. RMNP is amazing, but as a dog owner I am not allowed to hike there.

I'm in CO now, and that's one of the <14ers that I've done. Really liked the trail, the slide is massive! Wasn't sure which bump was taller, so did them both!

I think that the northern peak is higher, at least it looked that way to me. However, I thought that the view from the southern peak was better.
