Two sections today; First, did last piece of Metacomet in Suffield Land Trust to MA border. Trail ends at MA line which is private property adjacent to the Conservancy land in CT. Nice ridge walk. Second, went south from Rte 20 in East Granby down to Tariffville. Good views from Hatchet Hill to the W of woods, farms and equestrian center out to Tunxis ridgeline. Excellent overlook of Farmington River above Tariffville and then trail switchbacks down to riverbank and up into Tariffville at Rte 189 and 315. On the way back north some glimpese to E of Bradley Airport and Windsor Locks.
Dry conditions. No special equipment needed.
CT Blue Blazed Trails for hiking only saw dirt bike tracks and came across two mtn bikers using trail. Unfortunately on this section of Metacomet, no signage prohibiting motorized vehicles or bicycles. In spots hiking trail goes over rocky ridges while side bike trail runs parallel.
