Bingham Wind is unusual in that its not located on a distinct ridgeline. This is pretty remote territory that I expect few VFTT folks have visited as its north of the AT and the whitewater rafting industry. The Moose River Bow trip is north of this location but I believe the project site is not visible from Rt 201.

The donation looks to me to be pretty low for the size of the project but at least the money is being shared with land conservation groups. Realistically it looks to me like a payoff to keep schedule delay as the interest on the project for a delay would be more than the donation which most likely is tax write off.

Perhaps that will make up a bit for the loss in funding on land conservation projects in Maine from the land for Maines future bonds that aren't being issued.

I have mixed feelings about the lead group Friends of the Maine Mountains, the integrity of the founder and his lieutenant has been brought up previously and the website tended to have a lot of slanted opinion versus factual discussion. A fairly extensive background article on the founder https://www.wind-watch.org/news/201...icts-swirls-within-maine-anti-wind-nonprofit/ does raise a lot of issues that I expect will make the supporting organizations "hold their nose" a bit in accepting the donations. Based on this article I wonder how much money did FMM collect despite the statement in the original article "According to the release, the Friends group is not a beneficiary of the conservation fund." but I expect there could be other funds not detailed in the press release.
