Date of Hike: Saturday, January 28th
Trail Conditions: Zealand Trail is choppy but fine. Twinway has a good snowshoe track all the way to Zealand Summit. Zealand Road is a little choppy in places, no solid snowshoe track, just a lot of bare boot indents, ski tracks, and snowshoes. As of early Saturday afternoon as I passed by A-Z, Ethan Pond, Zeacliff, Lend-A-Hand trail they had not been broken out. A group of five guys said they might head to the summit of Guyot so between Zealand and Guyot may be broken out. On road walk back out ran into a big group that broke out Hale Brook Trail up to Mount Hale.
Special Equipment: Snowshoes were needed above hut, did see plenty of people bare boot to hut, but I would go with snowshoes from a mile in on Zealand Road.
Comments: Exhausting but fun day, broke trail above Zeacliff, crusty snow with powder underneath, never knew how much you would sink down, sometimes almost none, other times a half foot to a foot. Trip Report / Pictures
