I love looking at other people's photos. Has there ever been another thread where people post there favorite pic? Is it feasible to have a thread where each person can post their favorite pic on one thread?

...it has been done before. My only request is that people host their photos on another server and then link to the photo rather than attach it to the post. Too many attached photos eats up my server disk space and is a real bandwidth hog (which slows down the site).

So post away, just host away. (ha, that was funny in a geeky sort of way) :)

Coolio! Here are two of my favorite pics, not linked to webshots, so this link will only last for about 30 days. These are from Yose-mite.

I like looking at everybody's favorite photos too. I like your shot of Yosemite Falls and the lighting in the second photo.

I've often thought of posting pictures on my own website too, but I don't have any idea how to set up such a website. Can you do it free? Any help out there?

Your ISP probably provides you with some webspace to set up your own site.

You can use one of many free photo hosting sites like Webshots (http://www.webshots.com) to host your photos. For a few bucks you can buy the ability to host unlimited photos.

Yvon, How did you get the photo of the cooper's hawk with outstretched wings (epervier de cooper) ? Great shot!

I was lucky to be there at this time. :)
There were 3 young Cooper's Hack and I observed them and to photograph during several hours and several weeks during last summer. And i could take my photos very close of them and their were not affraid.
At the time of this photograph it ate and a sqirrel climb on the same tree branch. That comme very fast and I could take 3-4 photograph. I am very proud of this photo, because it was my first experiment of birds photograph.

Choosing one is very difficult! So, I'll just limit my favorite to trips I've taken in the past few months.

Acadia National Park last October (http://www.jamieofthenorth.com/Acadia%20National%20Park%2010-28%20to%2010-30%202005%20Pics/Acadia%20National%20Park%20VFTT%20Trip%202005%2007 4.jpg)

I like how the fall colors on the mountains contrast with the ocean. It's just very "Maine" which is why I like it so much. :D

Here's my fave, though with the scenery we see in the mountains routinely, it's very difficult to choose!

Here are my 3 favorites from this summer's trip to the Scottish Highlands. The rainbow kept coming and going as we descended, so we just waited for it to come in bright for the photo.

My favorite shots from this year:

Classic Dolomites Scene (http://www.vftt.org/gallery/Italy05/preview/IMG_7317-800.jpg)

Dolomiti Sunset (http://www.vftt.org/gallery/Italy05/preview/IMG_7406-800.jpg)

Looking South on Franconia Ridge (http://www.vftt.org/gallery/greenleaf05/pix/franc.jpg)

I changed the cropping a little bit since the last time I posted the Franconia Ridge shot. Now in addition to the 3 hikers on top of Little Haystack, you can also see 3 hikers on the trail in the lower left (but you have to look for them!). I have a 10x10 print of this shot in a 16x20 frame hanging in my house and I love it.

Oh and I have to include a picture of my favorite girl (http://www.vftt.org/gallery/surf/8521-carm-sitting-810-bw2.jpg), even if it isn't hiking related. :o

Is that in Canada or Alaska? I flew over the Western Rockies once and it was just astonishing to look out at the endless mountains.

That looks like the view from the top of Mt. Temple (http://www.vftt.org/gallery/cr/temple.html) in the Canadian Rockies. (jealous) It was on my to do list, but the avalanche hazard was too high when I was last there. Some day...

Correct, I should have mentioned, this is the summit of Mt. Temple in Banff National Park.

Just love the way this one came out...a completely candid moment just as I summited Haystack for #46. I love the silouette and the rays of light. I did have to edit out a giant pink/orange sunspot though (part of which you can see in my avatar).
