A sad story from Labrador, Canada

Two hikers who disappeared in 2003 were found in the Torngat mountains.

My thoughts go out to their families

There was a good article on this last year in Chen-Mun at www.ottertooth.com entitled “Risk and Responsibility” There is also more info at Canadian Canoe Routes www.myccr.com in the Labrador section.

There's a thread on the Highponters forum: Torngat climbers thread (http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=3897&messageid=1062129228) , including a link to this informative article: Globe and Mail article (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20040814/HIKERS14/TPNational/Toronto).

The bodies were found in separate spots so I am guessing Dan fell and was hurt or killed and then Sue went to possibly get help (her satelite phone was at their base camp) and she fell or got lost in a whiteout. I think we will never know the final details.

Quite a tragedy.
