I hiked Old Speck solo on Monday March 26. Only soul in Grafton Notch as far as I could tell.

Trail conditions highly variable, light snow cover from overnight at the trailhead shifting to thick ice/snow covered rocks, snow covered ice and rotten ( but thankfully frozen) old snow with postholes. Started in bare boots then put on microspikes once the ice patches started, and they worked very well. Some care required still due to the variable conditinos. River running and beautiful. Lots of PUD but overall a nice and not overly strenuous trail. Summit firetower cool but ladder too high to do with spikes.

Very windy and chilly.

Trail in good shape except for variable ground conditions. no blowdowns.

Traction helpful/necessary after the first few minutes.
