First post.

Does anyone know the elevation of Slant Rock? I am heading there Friday and if I have time, I would like to hike up Marcy to kill some time that evening before tackling the Great Range the next couple days. I like to write up a fairly detailed trip report and its fun to provide that sort of info.

Thanks in Advance!

P.S. I be posting my trip report Monday 2/21/2005!!

Hi! Welcome to the board. Slant rock is 1020m from sea level. That's about 3350 feet. Information available here (http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=4886596&e=588071&s=50&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25) . Hope you have a great trip to Marcy, it is a real nice hike from that direction.

err... question. Have you climbed in the dax before?

It is almost 2,000 feet below Marcy, between 3300 and 3400 IIRC.
(Sorry for the redundancy - I think I posted as Percious was finishing his post.)

Thanks for the info. From what I could see on the map, I figured it was about 2,000' below Marcy; thanks for confirming.

percious -- that contour map is much easier to count the lines on than mine. Thanks! Nice website btw. To answer your question, yes I have climbed in the peaks. This will be my 18th year doing so. However, this is only my third year doing them alone.
