Dates of Hike: Thru 4/19 (Oswegatchie update 4/21)

Trail Conditions: Snow free, all relatively dry except the typical wet spots on Gay City's Red trail and Rocky Neck's Blue trail as it descends to Four Mile River from the Green trail. Water crossings on Shenipsit Trail easy to rock hop and there is a bridge on one.

Special Equipment Required: Beginning to see some bugs but not many (any?) biting yet.

Comments: - Salmon River trail and Day Pond loops in great shape, does not like some ATV traffic on the spur to the falls. Saw two young men planning to spend a night. The western part of the Red Loop is wet in the usual places, did some leave clearing to help drain those spots. the Shenipsit Connector and Shensipsit from Boulder Junction to Case Mountain in Manchester is in great shape.

Mt. Bikers, walkers and runners are out in full season form in Gay City and along the corridor from Gay City to Manchester. A decent size youth group was camping at Gay City over the weekend in the youth camping area.

4/21: Oswegatchie Hills update. There is a couple of rocks near the Red and blue trail junction where people have been trying their hand at Cairn building. While dropping off a few more rocks, I learned some wasps are working on building a nest in the Cairn.
