  • thanks blacklab, it's a good climb, rated WI1 when it fills in. during the late winter and spring you can easily protect the bottom with snow pickets and then a few screws on the ice bulge. let me know when you go and how it turns out! you'll like it.
It looks to be about 2.5 hours from Aberdeen to Front Royal, VA which is the very northern part of Shenendoah... As far as Mtn Biking, I used to MTB a lot more before I started commuting but I could get back into it... I still have my old Santa Cruz Superlite, needs a new chain though...
How far away would be the closest mtns like say the Catskills like to Aberdeen? I figure with Aberdeen so close to the bay, it has to be relatively flat.. I saw some small parks and stuff for just walks in the woods but it looks to be kind of far from real hiking/backpacking...

Yeah, what kind of hiking around the area, I know it's right on the cheasepeake so I assume kayaking would be good (sea kayaking). I have a bunch of interviews with 2 companies who work out of Fort Monmouth, NJ which is to be closed in 2012, most places seem to be moving to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds so I would have to relocate if I do get that job and take it. Been passively looking at the area and saw your location... Definitely would get together to hike if I do move..
Hey Justin, not sure if you remember me, I've met you a while ago with mtn.goat (Dave), you living in Clarksville, MD now? Your avatar mentions it... Just wondering cause I may be relocating to Aberdeen, MD next year or in a few years for a job..
