IMHO, going up is often easier than going down. Not making excuses for them, just sayin'. My avatar is a pic of my first experience with Microspikes (on the Lion Head summer trail, in November,...
Thanks for the thought. Not really interested in going south. It's my lack of Northeastern winter hiking and skiing that's giving me withdrawal symptoms.:( Can't even go to the Chic Chocs right...
Maine exempts visitors from NH and VT. https://www.maine.gov/covid19/restartingmaine/keepmainehealthy/faqs
Exemptions for 4 other states has ended. Doesn't do me any good, though. :(
We're expecting 10 inches. I'll be preparing a similar 'loop for Mucka.
Fishing Cove. Western Cape Breton Island. A 4 mile hike down to a beach, and tent platforms. Absolutely no artificial light.
Lizzie Bourne marker?

My 210 Elans still go pretty fast (in a straight line). Once a year I pull 'em out of storage, wax them up, and scare the bejeezus out of myself.
a great climb. I've summitted 3 times, most recently September 2019. Can't go now due to international border restrictions, but will return when able. Hard on the body due to my advancing...
And then there's the whole international border thing :(
Great thread. I don't yet have a GPS but will refer to this thread when I decide to join the 21st century :D
The Perch might be an option http://www.randolphmountainclub.org/sheltersinfo/theperch.html unless camping at 4K plus is an issue. Madison, Adams and Jefferson are possible from this location.

Shoot. I was planning to retire next summer. What's the point, now:)
A 5 dollar bill is even lighter:)
I believe the value that results in the shortest remaining time to complete my hike:)
Except for Everest. It's growing at about 0.2 inches per year, possibly enough to offset sea level rise.
Yes. Hoping to book a stay at Cape Breton Highlands NP in latter part of July. Doesn't sound like I'll be able to visit the Whites very soon, so might as well play at home.
Up here, too. We've had 58 deaths in total in Nova Scotia, of which 52 were from one retirement facility. Tragic, but not indicative of significant community spread outside of those types of...
I love that trail. We bicycle on it every August during our annual visit to southern Maine. Here's to happier times:)
20 left in North America www.skicentral.com
I was in the Chic Chocs this weekend past. Arrived just after 20 inch snowfall, gorgeous skiing and snowshoeing. Drove back to Halifax on Monday. Local day hikes for me for the foreseeable future...
I live across the harbour from Halifax, in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Coincidentally, I'll be in Boston and the Whites in March. Highways are twinned all the way. Take 95 until it ends, then cross the...
I have done this one. very scenic. coyote paralleled my track for about 30 minutes, until it figured that I wasn't heading for a massive MI:)
What a great report. Visited Baxter in late September and had a great weekend. Sounds like (age wise) I'm of similar vintage to you:D. Happy trails.
