Zealand Bridge Reopening This Week (1/05/06)

Zealand Bridge, located off Rt. 302 in Twin Mountain, is scheduled to reopen this week for pedestrian and snowmobile traffic. This popular access point for cross country skiers and snowmobilers was closed last week due to safety concerns while the bridge was under construction.

Temporary jersey barriers have been put in place to provide safe access across the bridge. Visitors should expect to encounter multiple uses in the area including cross country skiers, and snowshoers as well as snowmobiles. The temporary barriers will be replaced in the spring. [end quote]

Drove by it in to way to, and from Jackson on Wednesday, looked pretty much ready to cross.

Almost got rear-ended slowing down to take a quick look!

And we all felt so rebellious just 5 days ago at the thought of crossing it.


This is *very* good news for skiers and sled-pullers, as the detour trail is not suitable for either (see related thread posted here somewhere).
