The eastern entrance to Yosemite NP is now open. Avalanche danger in 2 or 3 spots to road crews, due to the heavy snows this winter, delayed the road crews. The park is now accessible from US395 near Lee Vining.

The loop road thru Lassen National Park (east of Redding, CA) remains closed due to an especially snowy year. The guesstimated opening for that road is July 20th.

No, Audrey - it doesn't. Shaping up to be a short season. OTH - for backcountry skiers willing to make the trek - it's a great mountain.

Last year when we climbed it in Lassen in mid-June the road had just opened, and there were lots of skiers on the mountain. We had great fun with snow-rolling contests as we hiked down the side of one of the big bowls. Interestingly enough, snowballs, as they gather more snow, don't roll necessarily straight down the fall line.
