We are heading out in the morning for a three day trip to the MacIntyre Range. We will be renting snowshoes for a couple of the group members. Tother group members have traditional wood frame shoes, Bearpaw and Maine styles. I've never used these in the mountains, will they work or should we all rent mountaineering style shoes?

Thanks!

For the MacIntyre Range, definitely go with the mountaineering style. 10 point crampons may also useful.

Have fun and be safe.

We're planning to do Iroqouis via Algonquin on New Year's day. Above treeline it can be steep and icy, it is not at all like trail climbing. Poles and mountaineering snowshoes are a must. Crampons are frequently necessary unless you are climbing right after a snowstorm or it is unsually warm.
