The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands has begun a project to rehab 3 Maine
Towers -
Allgash Mountain Tower, T7 R14 WELS
Round Pond Mountain, T13 R12 WELS
Deboullie Mountain, T15 R9 WELS
The repairs are significant and should keep these towers sound for many
years to come:
1) Cab replacement
2) Ladder Maintenance and Ladder Cage installation
3) Footing Replacement
4) Guy Wire Replacement
5) Steel Painting
The private landowner expects to rebuild the Deasey Mtn lookout, one of
the most scenic locations in the state. It has just been named to the National Historic Lookout Register.
The Maine Forest Service has removed the Harris Mtn tower due to its poor
condition, maybe it wasn't so bad as they had to pull it over with a
skidder.
