Balsam Lake 9/29 - 10/1

What a surprise! We'll be up at the BLM Cabin this weekend, doing the volunteer thing. This is the last time we plan to be there for quite some time, FWIW.

Once again, there is a lean-to very close by and lots of camping spots, as well as reliable, clean water.

All are welcome to stop by the cabin/fire tower and hang out for a while.

Anybody want to do a 2.5 day backpack with a stop at BLM to visit Tom and Laurie? Start at the trailhead by Round Pond in Willowemoc area and hike up the yellow trail to the leanto friday night, then hike up to BLM (out and back) and then on to Long Pond saturday. Sunday, a short hike back out to the trailhead to finish the loop... Would be fun and I don't think there is that much elevation on the trail as there is no 3500' peak directly on the loop other than BLM which would be an out and back. It's in a not-well-hiked area of the catskills too, at least not for the peakbaggers.
