excuse me? please be more careful with your statement. There was never any push to make the WMNF (in its entirety) a federally protected Wilderness area. The bill was to designate those portions of WMNF (namely areas in the Wild River Valley and Sandwich Range) designated Wilderness with a capital W.

My guess is that some kind of Wilderness bill will pass within the next few months. (though some of us hikers would prefer to see a less austere method of protection & feel the WMNF is already in fairly good hands, in contrast w/ other areas of the Mahoosucs...)
