I heard that the Mt Washington Cog Railroad will not be open for skiing this winter. Does anyone know if the Base Road will still be plowed? If not, it sounds like Lion's Head is the only (reasonable) way up this year.

The cog will be running this winter but only for sightseers. There won't be any more skiing. The cog stated that 85% of their riders were people just going on a cog ride enjoying the view and only 15% were skiers. It didn't make financial sense for them to maintain the ski run for that few people. The cog will now also go a little higher than it had in the past. It used to go as high as the top of the ski run, now they say they will be going a little higher than that.

The cog will continue running though so the road will be open!
