If your dog is a hiking companion, take a look at this:

My lab Boo, wore it for the first time all day yesterday. 8+miles, most of it bushwhacking. She didn't like it at first, but then forgot about it. Here's a link to Rob's pix from the trip. You can see the vest in action:

Yep, it may look stupid, but she was thru brush, over ledges, in thick stuff and open woods. Its cordura, adjustable with the velcro straps, and its blaze orange(why I got it). The muzzle loading season was open for deer, and I didn't worry about her as she ranged on and off our route all day.

The thread is to notify hikers who are concerned about protecting their dog during the firearms season.
Advance warning: No leeway for dogs-hiking-hunting responses.

Thanks for sharing this. It's so important at this time of year. Kodi looks like a deer and Bernie like a bear.

My dog's vest is very similar. It's fleece-lined on the inside, and a coated bright orange on the outside. She wears it in the winter, too, but it's perfect for now.

I can recommend the website. I purchased a heater for my dog's house from them and had good results.

I have a similar coat for my dog - but it clips to his collar at the neck and has an elastic band that goes under his belly and fastens with velcrow. Probably not as sturdy as what Peakbagr posted, but if you're dog doesn't like the extra fabric at his or her chest.

We also got a little cow bell for his collar - not that loud, but enough to let us know where he is, and hopefully clue in anyone hunting nearby.
