Laurie and I did West Stoppel Saturday 5/5/7. We started from Colgate Lake and tip-toed over the dam, which only had about an inch of water running over it. The walk around the lake was mostly dry. From the other side, we chose a line that took us up to the col on the West side of W.S. We hit it pretty well. There was some blow down but it was not too bad. We went up to the middle false summit, and followed the state land blaze for a while to the East. When it turned, we just kept going. The going was pretty easy. We crossed an old road up high and decided to follow it down on the way back. In a few minutes, we were on the summit. Well, were we? We went a few more minutes and were a little higher. But we still doubted, so we went a little further and lost 3 feet. Ok, close enough! We took a break, and then headed back, down the road for all of 100 feet. It ended at a nice view point, so it was all good. From there, we just angled back down to the lake. We hit the lake at the far end, and found the stream impassable. Sorry Rik... We walked around the lake and back over the dam, and were done in 2.5 hours. A nice afternoon walk!

And oh, btw, we forgot the map, but we remembered enough from looking at it the day before, that it all worked out! :D
