Has anyone been up Wildcat Ridge Trail from 19 Mile in the last week? Is it well blazed?

Jonatha,

It is not well blazed, we lost it a few years ago when we had to break trail.

That said, it should not be much of a problem right now, as it is certainly well broken out. Sure, it will be drifted over in places, but it should be reasonably easy to follow for someone with trail finding experience.

Jonatha,

Although not well-blazed, you should have no great difficulty finding this trail. This trail is very steep and short coming up from the notch and there are only a very limited number of ways to get up to the ridge. I did that trail three years ago when snow depths were almost twice what they are now and recall no problems. Just remember to bring your crampons.

Hiker "X" and I did the section from Carter Hut over the Wildcats with a sled ride down the ski slope for a fun 15 minute trip out. Coming up the first steep pitches below the vantage point overlooking Carter Notch, don't miss a sharp left switchback where a pink-flagged bushwhack heads straight. Not much traffic this way as of last week. We barebooted over a single snowshoe track, quite a bit of drifting and a lot of trees in your face.
