Date of Hike: Sat - Sun, Dec 22-23, 2007

Trail Conditions: Ski slopes were an easy walk with snowshoes. From top of Sugarloaf, 12-15" new powder on hiking trails.

Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - essential. Crampons - on pack but not needed. Wind gear - essential. Note - we broke one showshoe on the way out. Found out just how slow the going can be with one foot snowshoeless! Apologies for the postholes.

Comments: CVR snowed in, but there is a small parking area plowed out at the entrance. We headed to Sugarloaf and took the following route up the ski trails: Parked at the Golf Club. Took West Mountain trail up to Bullwinkles Construction site. Then L.Timberline to junction with Buckskin. Stayed Left and picked up the construction road ( closed to skiers that day ) to the summit. Sugarloaf suggested this route when we checked in with them due to needing to park overnight. Sugarloaf and ski patrol folks at the base and on the mountain were very helpful.
