Trail Conditions: There is now a good solid base heading up the Osseo thanks to our group of 6 snowshoers. The ladder near the Downlook was totally covered by snow. This steep section and the section just beyond it was the most challenging part of the day. From Flume to the Basin lot, the trail was well broken in already.

Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes were essential. MSRs had the easiest time on the steep sections. No ice was encountered so crampons only rode along in our packs.

Comments: We followed a broken trail about halfway up the Osseo, but they had turned around at that point. There was an old track evident under the snow from there on (though it wasn't noticable in the steep section) which rumor has it was left by a certain winter record attempter.

Rare treat on the summits: great views and virtually no wind! We picked a great day for this hike!!
