Ever since my failed summit attempt a couple weeks ago the Moats have been taunting me for a return trip. The Dugway Rd parking area is plowed and has enough room for 8-10 cars..
The Moat Mountain Trail was packed and I only sunk 2-3 inches each step (much better than 2 weeks ago) all the way to the South Moat summit. Beautiful panoramic views. Broke trail through ankle / knee / thigh deep drifts to the Middle Moat summit for even better views.
Snowshoes and poles highly recommended. On descent I passed 2 sets of couples headed up and the trail should be well packed by tomorrow.
