I just sat down and read "hot off the press" the thrilling exploits of these two and their 1st ascent of Mt Lucania.
Yes it was fresh for the world to see...Life magazine Sept 27,1937. I just stumbled across this issue today in a little store full of this and that......... price back then 10 cents !
It was great to see them so young in such fine form.
In a day of coincidence I see in the paper that the Highland Center is having a 28 image exhibit of Bradford Washburns photographs..Admission is free.
He has been a member since 1926.
It is advised to call ahead as sometimes the
exhibit hall is reservered for other matters.
Well..it just might be enough to lure me in......

There is also going to be an exhibit of 20 of his Colossal prints(40x60") in Walthham and in Kenmore Sq.
I saw this in todays Union Leader....March 26, 04
May they continue to enjoy such long and happy lives !!
They were quite a pair..Bob Bates and Bradford Washburn.

And did you see the article in last month's Outdoors about him? That 53 lb Fairchild camera was (is) awesome!

I saw the exhibit at the Highlands of Washburn's work. If you're going to be in the general area it is worth stopping to see. The photography is wonderful as is the natural beauty he captured in his work.
