Date of Hike: 1/4/07
Trail Conditions: Packed powder with several inches of new snow on top. The trail is in good shape. A great hike for a beginner snowshoer.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes
Comments: Lower Doe Town Rd. is closed to cars. However it's only a .2 mile easy walk to the trailhead. Broke the trail all the way to the summit. Bottom half of trail below ski mobile road in good shape. Above the ski mobile road the snow is deeper and drifted in spots. Snowshoes are needed to avoid postholing. Speaking of which, a moose post hold across the trail about half way up the second part of the trail and created quite a mess. Lots of other critter trails in the area too. To save some time, we followed the ski mobile road down to the lower trail intersection of the way out.
