Mark Zimarowski and I hiked up to Five Mile Mountain on 1-5-08 using the trail from northern trailhead.
We needed snowshoes the whole trip out as the trail had not been broken after the recent New Year's snow storms. We hiked over Brown Mountain and enjoyed nice views of Black Mountain across Lake George. We continued on past the lean-to another mile or so, but stopped not knowing if we had passed our destination.
We turned around and were back at the parking lot just before we would have needed to put on our headlamps. Total hiking time: 5 hours. Distance: roughly 7 miles.
