Mark Zimarowski and I hiked up Five Mile Mountain from the South a day after hiking up from the north. We wanted to hike to the point where we had turned around the day before.

The trail conditions had changed a bit over night due to rain and warmer temperatures. We didn't need to put on snowshoes until we got to the four corner trail intersection about 1.9 miles in. At that point, snowshoes were necessary. We slogged up to Five Mile Mountain and enjoyed nice views along the way and from the top. We quickly found the point where we had stopped the day before and had our lunch.

We had started earlier this day and were back well before needing headlamps. Total distance: roughly 7 miles. Total time: again 5 hours.
