Haystack 1/22/08

Trail was well packed all the way to Little Haystack. The last .6 miles from the Range Trail to Haystack was mostly wind blown crusty snow and ice, with a little deep snow in the saddle. Crampons and ice axe used for this section.

Attempted Basin. The trail towards Basin showed no signs of recent travel. We broke trail to within .5 miles of the summit. Ran out of time and energy. We returned via Shoreys Shortcut, which is now broken out.
