What has always loooked on paper like a nice loop actually is. After a trip up the well stomped out Bucklin Trail, we headed south on (and often way off) the Long Trail. About 1-2 tenths of a mile from Little Killington we slabbed to the col through very open woods in deep snow with a sometimes supportive crust layer. We followed some very fresh bobcat tracks for a while. About 20 feet from Mendon's summit I broke out onto a fresh track, somebody else was up that day but didn't open and sign in at the canister. Whoever it was, thanks for your efforts, our descent via a broken out trail was rapid, an hour and change to get back to Brewer's Corner. A fun trip with Mike, Joleen, Georg, for the whole trip, and Kyle and Melissa for the trip up to Killington.
