Hi readers,

After a good night, with a early breakfast We returned in a crime place.

20 minutes after six in a real cold morning, We start near the bridge with wings each side of snowhoes!!!

Few minutes after We crossed the river We catched the 2 rabbits in front Us. They tell Us: " a big group started for Dix & Hough by the Round Pond appoach".

We go fast and We returned at the buton of the Grace in a perfect bue sky and the Sun go up in The Hough side.

With the swichback systeme We go up in the left side of the small brook, always stay in the open birch forest and catched a small open place few minutes before the Spotted Grace Montains col.

We stay more time in the East side of the ridge and Summit the Ennemy after 4 hours.

Without hesitation We started for Carson after We take a lot of virtual pictures from the summit.

We do not use the usual path for the first 1,000 steps but after We used it.

The snow was not too bad and one hour later We are in Carson Summit. We know We need to stay in the usual path for the go down part for the col. This place usual is a critical spruce traps place, in the winter the snow covered all the small spruces and it is a giant spuce straps place.

Fortunately when junior choice his snowshoes He take the decision to take the option antispruce traps, :D it is a little bite expensive but He never check for the bill!!! I think it was a good decision to have 2 small helim balls each side of snowshoes...is it legal? can We count the mountains? with this help condition... We check in the 46r rules and never see nothing for this!!!!!

Anyway without trouble We start to up Pough and go down in the other side.

We make a small mistake just before the small rocky place not very fare of the Hough summit, We stay to long time in the left side and we need to use the new method to negociate a very step place: You need to pratice a stetching before and with a small imagination You catch a cloud in each hand a very delicately You pull up You.... :) sorry It not fair for the other peoples coming after You but few time Junior is a mad partner for the next hiker... :(

We stay in the edge and finaly We summit Hough. Surprise no tracks in Dix direction....o.k. We will go down and 100 steps later We saw a snowshoes traks and a people back. We meet Claudia and Rick and all the team after.

We stay outside of the tracks the time Junior plays the star in front the camera and We restart with Dix goal.

Now the tracks is a highway, very different and easy, good progress and near the last col We meet Sue alone with a good determination to Hough.

We summit Dix, take many other virtual pictures and go down with the usual pace.

At the Round Pond a police car with the red lights open stay here to protect 3 cars parked inside of the white bare limite!!!

We need to hike to catch the Junior mobile and when We come back meet a other time Rick.

What a terrible day, 10 hours 15 minutes car to car.

We need a big dinnnnner and a early sleep tomorrow We will have a meeting with Cory at 6 thirty at teh Santanoni parking!!!!

Have a good night......made a good dreams....(We saw a big group made a perfect snowshoes tracks to Couche), We open eyes it is 15 minutes after 4 the time to wake up!!! ;)

Alain,

We enjoyed your path every step of the way, even though we wished at times you had done some side-cutting as well. The snow is so deep that we came home arms-exhausted from pushing branches away from our faces all day! The route up Grace's lower shoulder next to Spotted and then up the final cone (.2-mile/500' of ascent) offered breath-taking views, one of the best-ever winter route. The wind was strong and loud the last .2-mile of the almost flat ridgline to the true summit, somewhat scary it luckily was blowing in the right direction to keep us on the ground. Returning we felt it was safer to break trail though the woods as we weren't in the mood for flying lessons...

We did enjoy the sun till the summit and the rain waited till we reached our cars. Alain, you and Grace were very kind to Peggy, Alex and I, yesterday.

MERCI BEAUCOUP - THANKS a zillion :D

So, Peggy finished her third winter round? It's that Peggy right?

Yes, it is!

Thank you Alain, it is so funny. I told your story to Annie and she laugh to.
I would like to see a picture of those "antispruce traps snowshoes". Can you bring that at the Mtl Beer night?

Tracks from stone bridge to Grace /East Dix summit were still great yesterday, Tuesday February 19, but our friend Gary had to don his wetsuit and add some extra bank walking to cross the now high and running waters of the various river and brook crossing of that "easy" route.
