Took the Undermountain Trail from Undermountain Rd. in Salisbury to the AT, then to the summit of Bear Mtn. There was a layer of ice over hard packed snow. Trail was passable in just boots or sneakers although yaktrax or stablicers would have been helpful. There were very few places on the trail where bare ground was visible. We brought snowshoes, but did not use them.
