Hi all!

This is my first post on VFTT...I've peeked in from time 2 time & have 2 say this is a great resource for northeast hiking and backpacking! I'm originally form Boston and have been an avid backpacker for many years...however, I have not taken advantage of the Adirondaks and my knowledge of this area is limited. I'm looking for info on a good 5 day loop for the first week of May in the Western high peaks area.
Any info would be greatly appreciate!

Thanks, Glenn

First week of May

There are lots of great 5 day loops. Ther Stewards are great for about 3 days. Or try Grey to Marcy to Hatstack on thru the Great Range.
BUT- be prepared for winter conditions. Even if tere is no snow in the parking lot, bring the snowshoes and crampons.

Thanks Woodstrider...my main concern is staying off trails that are prone 2 mud @ that time of year!
will take a look at the maps...thanks again.

Without knowing snow conditions its hard but you could try this...

Day 1: Corey's to Ward Brook
Day 2: Seward, Donaldson, and Emmons as a dayhike
Day 3: Seymour then full pack it to Bradley Pond
Day 4: Dayhike The Santanonis
Day 5: Hike out to the Upper Works

Beware that all of those peaks are trailless and that they may have a lot of snow and or mud. Hope that helps.
