Date Hiked: 06-Apr-2008
Conditions: The snowpack on Cherry Mountain Trail & Martha’s Mile was fairly firm and crusty for the ascent portion of the trek. However, the snowpack had softened considerably for the return portion. There are no water-crossing issues on this trail. There are a few blowdowns, but all can easily be worked around with no difficulty.
Special Equipment: We wore snowshoes for the entire trek since the snowpack was still quite deep. (On our descent, we were occasionally post-holing, even with snowshoes!)
Comments: This is one of those hikes with “big views” for only a modest amount of time & effort. The views Zman & I got today were partially obscured by some low clouds, but overall not too shabby!
Located HERE are 7 photos taken on this trek.
Just as a side-note, it appeared that no one had been on Martha’s Mile in quite awhile. But, we broke trail and it’s now good to go (perhaps won’t need to be done again until around Nov/Dec?!).
