Hikin' the scree on Shasta....
Trails: Up Weathersfield/Down Windsor

Trail Conditions: 75% snow free and dry - very little mud at all. Mud season? Didn't hit any snow or ice until probably 2800 feet on Weathersfield and it lasted a bit longer going down on Windsor.

Special Equipment: Water!! Hot one out there this weekend. Nothing else - hiked in shorts and short sleeves all day. Snowshoes may have been helpful for 30 minutes or so up high, but we left them in the car as did everyone else on the mountain. (actually davebear brought his and used them a bit). I say leave em in the car ;) ;)

Comments: First time on this peak - and what cool little peak this is - plenty to see along the way via very nice lookouts, waterfalls, cascades.

Nice hike with skimom, gillian, davebear, gail, mookie and brian. Best weather one could hope for - took a short nap on summit, chilled out and just had a nice relaxing fun day with the gang on this cool little peak.

Lots of small blowdowns on the upper part of windsor. We all commented how odd this was - it was like many trees had their tops blown off very recently (very fresh) but I don't think any bad weather was there lately??? Interesting - just about a .5 section on that trail..... you would almost say a small twister went through.

nice weekend at the cave in VT!!
