Trail Conditions: The trail is basically in good shape. There are some trees down at lower elevations, but nothing major. In the shaded areas between the pond and the Adler trail there is still some snow left, mostly off trail in the woods. The final pitch to the summit is still snow covered but easily (or not so easily) negotiated. The typical muddy/wet areas exist because it is spring. The trail has stepping stones in the water areas so even in my approach shoes I was able to rock hop and stay dry. The stream crossing at the Dix/Noonmark/Round junction is easily negotiated.

Special Equipment: None, I did the hike in approach shoes. I do recommend a hiking stick for balance on some of the rock scrambles, especially on the descent.

Comments: Minimal black fly problem as of May 7, mostly around Round Pond. Only a matter of a few days before they are out in full force.
