Africa: 17 year old trip report

This trip report was inspired by the recent thread on ticks...

DEET Vs. Bug-Off Informal Challenge

...which reminded me of the days when I was studying Blue Monkeys in the Kibale rainforest in western Uganda. We (my ex-wife and I) would spent from dawn to dusk every day hiking through the rainforest following our troop of monkeys. At night we'd come home, do yoga (staring up at monkeys 250' overhead does a number on your neck) and pick ticks off ourselves. We would usually get about a dozen a day. There was even one kind that seemed to specialize in going up your nose.

And it is back country, and so on topic to me. I enjoyed the photos. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I'd never be brave enough to go such places due to fear of disease and the little types of bugs such as those ticks, so it's great to see photographs. I love elephants!

Wow. I especially like the birds pics. I think there are a few species we probably won't be seeing in the NE anytime soon.
