Unbelievably beautiful day. Views from Camel's Hump all the way around to snow-capped Washington and beyond. Gorge Brook mainly snow-free, just a few vestiges of easily avoidable monorail. No snow above treeline. Beaver Brook/Asquam Ridge quite snowy above 3800 ft, with some monorail and some just mushy old snow. Mud from time to time. Few blowdowns lower down on ridge trail, below 3500 ft. Poles and gaiters helpful. Postholing not much of an issue as snow not that deep. Blackflies were biting more as the day went on, though mostly just when we stopped. Not too buggy overall! Bring water or a filter- it's sunny and warm up there! I drank my whole 3L.
