How 'bout this guy? He's perched on a screen. I can't remember how big he was - maybe at least 1" x 1" - I could go back and measure the screen grid.

I'm no moth expert..... . I got lucky with the first one, because those big moths are so striking, I knew I'd seen it in my Audubon Field guide to New England. Your moth might be some kind of Sphinx moth, maybe a small-eyed sphinx? That's the closest I could find.............good luck, I hope you find out.
